[Jukebox-list] Seeburg 100C Hum

Gary, there is a flaw in the design of the speaker cable. The voice
coil, field coil and the jumper share the same grounding pin. If the socket
is corroded, the return of the high voltage center tap can cause a voltage
drop that will appear across voice coil and cause hum. Additional grounds on
the vacant pins and rerouting separate grounds for the voice and field coils
will correct this problem. Of course replacing the socket is the best way to
correct this for the next twenty years. Wes

Sometimes hum can be caused by faulty filter
capacitors (metal cans)
