Graeme,
See if, per chance, when the wire is moved, it is touching a set of contact points together. Sounds to me like the motor start contacts are adjusted too tightly. A 473K (or .047) /630 is today's equivalent of a .05/600. Ron Rich

Since my last post I the problem happened when closing the front door. and
by moving the wiring. It looks like a short. I have not found it as
yet.

Subject: [Jukebox-list] AMI Continental 1 Search unit
I have an intermittent problem with my AMI Continental 1. The search
unit will start scanning by itself. It will only do it when credit is
established. I does not happen often sometimes it will happen while a
record is being played. I can stop it by pushing the selection cancel
button on the button bank. I have replaced the cancel button bank micro
switch with a new one along with the capacitor in the button bank. In
the Search Unit the electrolytic capacitor, has been replaced along with
the 0.05 mfd -600 vdc capacitor with 473K 630 volt capacitor.
Regards
Graeme Harvey
