John,
I have to respectfully dis-agree with you--I think it's more of what one is "used to". I have no problems repairing the Autospeed, and defiantly would never go through the labor to "change the gear set". Also, in my humble opinion, the LPC-480 has great sound--the LPC-1, in my opinion, unless equipped with the optional "DS ears", has poor sound.

The 2310 is much better looking machine. Make sure the lid support on
the upper left rear of the glass lid is removed so you do not
break/crack the chromed cast metal. Very common problem with that
series of jukebox.
As for reliability and parts, the 2300 series is easier to fix and
lots of parts are available.
The LPC480 is not one of my favourite machines - the autospeed unit
is a pain and it is best to convert that machine to 45RPM gearset
only. Sound quality is no better than the Wurlitzer (not like later
Seeburgs that can sound great). Needles are quite expensive compared
to the Wurlitzer.
Each machine handles the records on edge so they both take pretty
good care of your collection, just be sure to get the tracking weight
down as low as possible, 3 - 5 grams usually works for the Seeburg,
and 5 - 8 for the Wurlitzer.
