Lol.I don't think I would opren one of those up for nothing in the world. But
I guess there are dummies who do it.I was kinda worried when I started working
on the SS 160 you sent me speakers for as one of the screws that held it
together was backed out about a 1/4 inch but the other side and seal was
intact. And the tormat worked with a little upward pressure on the contact block when
first tried before cleaning and adjustment....lol.
In fact this filthy mech worked the best of all the 5 60s Seeburgs I got in 1
lot before I started tearing it down for cleaning.I'm working on all the
insides of the 5 Seeburgs now as I can just bring everything in and work in the
air conditioning. When it's cooler weather I'll work on the cabinets and
cosmetics.Except it's got the red tone arm and no damping whatsoever. That needle hit
that record hard..lol. Good thing I didn't have good needles in it.I got the
good one to install from ebay so I'm good there. As far as the others good thing
there's hundreds of Seeburg mechs out there .You should have seen the bent
and destroyed parts I have found.I even found a clutch shifting lever with the
holes for the roller reamed out and the sides bent up with piers and the spring
hook shaft loose and the shaft that holds it broke loose in the trip
mechanism mounting plate.Unfortunately only a lever from an LPC series jukebox will
work as I quickly found out when I attempted a swap from a parts mech.No tab to
lift the reversing relay on trip and to keep it from locking in while
scanning. I got a friend sending me the rest of the mechanism I should have gotten in
the first place when they sent me a few LPC480 mech parts...lol.Oh and I found
another mech completely missing that casting I had broken on one...lol. And
another with one side of the trip switch lever cut off where the counterbalance
spring attaches.
It is a shame when innocent and no longer made jukebox parts are destroyed
by some hack.I have to admit I've broken a few by accident though.I broke one
of those plastic detent switch levers once and a reversing switch once. Both
parts are pretty vulnerable if you're not careful especially the reversing
switch on a mech removed from the base. But the parts I found broke were by force
and purposely done.No other way they got that way.
