Thanks for clarifying this situation. It looks like the solid state
2050's are now a thing of the past, and we'll have to stick with our
tubes (unless we want to do a major modification of the circuit as
you've described).

My question to you is: do you recommend adding additional fuses to any
parts of the standard Seeburg tormat receiver? I've heard that it's
common for the 6X4 to short out, and fry the power transformer (which
are becoming quite costly to replace). Is it good to put another fuse in
line for the transformer? You've mention in your note that "all coils
have burn out protection". Where are these coils, and what amperage
fuses do you recommend?

    John, I am not the one that designed the solid state replacement for
the 2050. It was Daniel Zavaro.
    What I do in my rebuilds is replace the pulse amplifier with relay
operated by an SCR. For this to work I change the power supply to
negative ground. The stepper tube is also replaced with a relay and
certain circuit changes. I do not use any tubes in my changes. The 6X4
tube is replaced with a silicon diode  The 0A2 is replaced with a 150 V
zener diode.
    All coils have burn out protection. We do not try to sell these
conversions. We use them in all the Seeburgs we sell.  Wes
