[Jukebox-list] Diamond or saphire? Which is which?

Hi folks,

The Sonotone cartridge on my Wurlitzer 3300 takes a stylus with a
diamond and a saphire.
But which is which? Is the saphire on the far side of the stylus or not?

The explanations I found on the net are dealing with normal record
players. They discribe
how you have to look down from the top of the cartridge to read the
markings on the lever
of the stylus. But there are two problems. First the lever on my stylus
only has the marks 1
and 2. And second, since the record player on a 3300 is standing
upright facing the viewer
how can you determine which mark is valid for which tip? I mean, if
these styli where made
especially for the jukebox, are you supposed to read the marks the easy
way (mark same
side as the tip) or the hard way (from the top of the arm down)?

Thinking logically, I would say the saphire would be on the most far
side of the stylus to be
able to cope with the larger swings of the grooves on a 78. But then
again... I don't know....

Thanks,

Frank Bass
