Ian,
Thanks for the advice ! That "location" was in a "rough" area of San Francisco, and no longer exists. I was always met by a "security guard" squad ,outside the door. One "guard" would "baby sit" my truck while the other one would escort me into and out of the "establishment". Those were the operators terms, anytime that he had to send me there. I have seen others, with bullet holes, that came from so called "High Class locations".
One story that I have heard--not seen myself, was that of an AMi shortly after they came out with the "play stimulator". The story goes that the janitor was cleaning the place on the first night after the phono was installed, when it suddenly began to play. It's said that he reached for his gun and shot the phono---

Finally the tables have turned and I feel I have some advice for Ron Rich! Based on his comment here:

I'd *highly* recommend avoiding performing any further service at that location. Who'd have thought being a jukebox repairman would mean the risk of getting caught in the crossfire?
Makes me think of a song I have the title strip for but have not yet heard called "Bubba Shot the Jukebox".
Maybe I'm a bit strange, but having a Wurlitzer with a bullet hole in it just has to be a good conversation starter. I hate to be so morbid, but it makes you wonder - did some poor sod get the worst of that bullet, or was someone specifically aiming for the juke after some smart aleck played "Achy Breaky Heart" for the fourteenth time????
