Not entirely off topic

My old man used make brushes; just after WWII the factory where he worked
tried plastic (Celluloid) ladies hairbrush handles for the first time.
These were treated like wooden handles and so holes were drilled in them to
mount the bristle. They knew it was a bit of a fire risk so being a member
of the factory fire crew he got the job of burning the drilling swarf on
the company recreation ground instead of feeding the factory boiler with it
(which is where the wood waste normally went.)
He laid a 20ft trail to the heap of drillings and put a match to it.

When he managed to stand up again he had no eyebrows and lost some hair,
not that he ever had much to start with. Also being somewhat embarassed at
discovering celluloid 'goes' better than petrol.
