I have always had trouble with the tone are setting on my rockola 429. The cartridge and needle were sticking down about 1/2 inch from the arm. Just before Christmas Ron Rich mentioned that some of the later cartridge holders were not manufactured correctly and that you had to grind away the plastic screw "tunnel" so the cartridge would fit closer to the tone arm. I did this and could not believe the difference. Not only can I now adjust the tone arm  pressure but the volume increased as the needle is now at the correct angle. Today my new needle arrived and the volume increased even more.
