Hello!
The Wurlitzer now kind of works :-))
I don't know what was wrong last time when the magazine didnt start rotating,
but maybe the problem was that the "service switch" ("service technicians
only") was in the wrong position... ;)
Another problem was that the playback was stopped as soon as it started - I
found out that this was because the PLAY SWITCH was not switched when the
tonearm was put onto the turntable - the disk which switches the PLAY and
CANCEL switches was in the wrong position.
The 8A fuse in the control box always blew for odd selections, not for even
ones. After looking a bit at the schematic I suspected the SIDE 1 SOLENOID.
And indeed the SIDE 1 SOLENOID is shorted.
I already took apart the solenoid and ordered some wire to rewind it. It's
about 390-400 windings of 0.5mm copper wire, about 31m long with a resistance
of about 3.5 Ohms.
Does anybody happen to know if 3.5 Ohms is the correct resistance for the SIDE
1 SOLENOID? The solenoid is connected to 28VDC by the SIDE 1 READOUT SWITCH
and at 3.5 Ohms that would mean 8A/224W - seems like too much current/power
to me if it is applied for more than a few seconds.
Thanks,
greg
