I'd add to check the little blade spring on the tonearm
cam.  The base of the tonearm has a little cam-follower
peg that rides on the vertical face of the cam.  The
spring holds the follower against the cam face just so
the tone arm won't be "kicked in" by the momentum 
imparted to it by the cam.  As the tonearm sets down,
the peg is located on one side by the cam face and on
the other side by the spring.  The cam continues to
rotate just far enough after set-down to carry the end
of the spring past the follower, allowing the tonearm
to be carried in by the lead-in groove.
