If I recall correctly, it only gets a "pulse". You might check out the circuit that provides that "pulse" as there should be no reason for that solenoid to have gone bad. Unless there is a mechanical "drag" on the solenoid, or the "pulse" is being kept on (such as a "sticking switch?) too long. Ron Rich

I ordered some 0.56mm wire to rewind the SIDE 1 SOLENOID. Should have used 
0.5mm wire cause now it has only 330 windings and 2.2Ohms resistance - but it 
works and I think it should be OK because it must not get current for more 
than a few seconds - the original 3.5Ohms magnet would melt after more than a 
few seconds too. Maybe I put a 1 ohm resistor and/or a fuse in series with 
the new solenoid...
