[Jukebox-list] Drive In Movie Speakers

Jackie,
As I attempted to "splain you" before, you are mis-reading the manual. Those numbers, printed on the amp terminal strip, are "wattage taps" not "ohms". You need to calculate the amount of "power" that you are using, and adjust the speakers on those screws so that you are not attempting to use more than the amp can deliver. You can have more then one speaker connected to any screw, but you can not exceed the rated output (in watts) of the amp without risk of "blowing" the amp. That amp is rated in a "phony music power rating" of 40 watts. The real RMS rating is closer to 25 watts per channel. Keep that in mind while doing calculations. Ron Rich

  Hello to all,
Yes....I am back, lol, got all these thoughts and questions as usual. I bought 2 Drive In Movie Speakers on ebay. They arrived and look as described. The screws to open the speaker are some "tamper-proof" screw and I tried about 25 different screw driver heads and none of them work.

I have given them to a friend of mine that works for the Presidental Motorcycle Garage and he is drilling them out for me and has access to some blasting machine to bring them back to their original luster...cool huh? He is also mounting a pole down a metal car rim and making a box for the top of the pole so the speakers can hang on it. These are going outside.

I am planning on hooking them up to the Wurlitzer. I have 4 connections for external speakers. One, the 8 ohm is the wall speakers (they sound so fantastic), the next one down is the cabinet speakers 4 ohm. That leaves 2 connections free, a 1 ohm and a 1/2 ohm. Does it matter which one I use for the Drive In Speakers?

I haven't seen the inside yet so don't know if there is a transformer and if they need to be connected to the CV terminals.

Is there anything special I need to know about wiring and connecting these up? I am hoping the speakers are in good shape, I may have to replace them but I think I can find some inexpensive small speakers. Not sure what size the speakers are until I can get into the case itself.

As always, love your feedback, and is there anything more fun than this?????
Jackie
