I now realize that NO jukebox collection would be complete without A
COMPLETE SET OF SQUARE AMIs, all colour variations. :o)

That'd be something unique, I think.

Thanks for taking the time to write that down, Aaron.

Over here we used to see more square Jensen AMIs than US original machines,
since they were only made under license in Europe until 1957. I've only seen
Jensen AMI G's in red or black. Only ever repainted one, black with gold
flake.

I always thought they were nice looking, working and sounding machines.
Still, there's no contest when you compare it to the next two models (H and
I). They must've changed design studio in 1956 - you can see the first
changes toward more chrome and rounder shapes with the G200.
The square AMIs are unusual jukeboxes in that they are daylight machines,
and so I agree that they look good in a soda shop. Not so good in a bar or a
night club. You need to subdue the lighting with gels if you want it in the
house.
Feel free to disagree.

  Jens

ps - if you wish to see a Bal-Ami G on location, go to
http://www.britishpathe.com/
make a search for "jukebox"
and you'll get some hits
the square beauty is seen in action in 71.13 "Juke box story"
after you fill in your whereabouts you can download the clips you wish to
watch
you can also pay and get the high resolution file
also nice footage to be found if you search for slot machine or pinball
all you brits onboard were already aware of this, not?
enjoy ;o)
