BLB VS BL -
I went to GE.com and hunted through the bulb info on black light bulbs and
black light blue bulbs. I found that there was a note on the BL bulbs "these
emit at 368NM - typically used in insect traps".
The BLB is more commonly used in my opinion (that is what's available at Wal-
Mart etc).
I also found a comparison chart showing that the BL bulb puts out a stronger
UV light. And there are a couple of spikes in the 450NM and 550NM wave
lengths. For BLB the chart shows less of the UV and none of the other spikes.
For someone who understands wavelengths and irradiance here is the link.

I would also be glad to email the chart I found (small jpg photo)
So it seems that the BL is harder on plastics than the BLB. But both of
course put out UV light.
I do have a PFEA1U that is a future project, it will get black light bulbs
but I may do a test on BL VS BLB bulbs but that depends on pricing and
availability if I want to purchase two sets of bulbs.

The internet is a wonderful thing, most of the time :)
