A "blb" has a blue UV filter coating inside the bulb.(for eye protection) As for the "plastic eating ability" That is a new one to me.

Thanks, Dave, that what I would assume--
Does anyone happen to know what the difference in "eating ability" is
between a "black light" (marked "BL") and a "Black light bulb" (or "Black
light black") (marked "BLB") ? I know that the BLB was first used by
Seeburg in the PFEA-1U phono, and they then changed it to a BL, (and
supplied all new keyboard plastics to anyone who complained). Ron Rich

I have no knowledge of that type lamp, but if, as I suspect, it emits UV,
