[Jukebox-list] AMI G-200 problem

Wes,
It is too cold for me to dig out a schematic right now, but going from memory, didn't those switches "interrupt" (or "time") the pulse going to the pin cancel coil? If so, I assume that they are an added "safety" to prevent those coils from "cooking" if the pin cancel coil switches got stuck. I sort of have a memory of seeing the wires terminated at the area where those switches should be--but I can not recall what type of terminal was used in the later models, nor exactly what model this was done too. Also, I seem to recall a "service bulletin" stating that they should be jumpered-- Ron Rich

Ron, these 'flakey' switches are identified as 'interrupter' switches. I cannot for the life of me why they were used. The later mechanisms do not have them. They are the primary trouble of the gripper motor jamming when it gets to play position and the selected pin does not reset. It is a simple matter to jump these troublesome items. Wes

Rick,
Does it do it on both sides of the record? Is either, or are both arms bent ? I think that there were switches under the pin bank which had a habit of becoming "flakey". As I re-call, the AMi fix was to short those switches out. Once again, going from my great, but not too long, memory, it seems that the factory left the wire harness in for these switches on later mechs (H-I models?), and just connected the two wires together---Ron Rich

OK, Ron and David, thanks for your help.
Here is a little more detail. I checked the selection pin and, yes, it was still out and the arm was hung up on it. I pushed it in and the cycle will now complete. I have tried some selections and sometimes it hangs up and other times not. The record rack appears to stop just short of the selection and occasionally "jumps" a little to get to the selection. Still no sound, and the reject switch under the turntable will not work unless the selection pin in pushed in and the arm is released
