Jim,usually 'service persons' do not have the luxury of sitting in an air conditioned facility pouring over schematics and analyzing nagging problems . Their usual environment was entirely different. We had to get out of our warm house, attempt to start a contrary old service truck, nurse it out in the country to an illicit shot house full of angry drunks demanding you fix their sole method of entertainment.
None would tell you that they had poured a beer down the coil chute trying to make it play free. And once you had gained access to the sick patient, they would hover and I mean closely around you to make sure you were doing it right. There would be many persons that knew much more than you did and would not hesitate to give you guidance in the error of your ways.
These are the times that you were lucky that no designers were around to accept the brunt of your wrath.
We live in a different world nowadays. Wes
