Jim my opinion of these so-called 'purists' are that they are likened to the restorers of 100 point automobiles in one way , but not totally. We get in a lot of these boxes that were 'restored' by the aforementioned types. We have come to the conclusion that one cannot usually wear two hats at the same time. It is rare indeed to find a person that excels in cosmetics and mechanics simultaneously. I am excluding persons that has one juke and spends a few years getting it to a point that will satisfy mostly his acquaintances.
In our shop, we are of the opinion that performance takes the front row. Any other method will plague the seller if a guarantee is given with the sale. Especially if long distance is involved.
It is interested to note that a customer will insist on the coin capability be intact at the time of purchase only to call back in a month or two asking if the box can be put on free play. To combat this mindset, we will not guarantee any box that accepts coins. Here lies 90% of all service calls. Wes
