I remember a Warren Miller ski film from the late 60's/early 70's that showed
some goofy skiers spraying WD-40 on their bare feet in order to slide into
their ski boots with no socks.  I don't remember why they were going without
socks, but I guess if you are crazy enough to do that, WD-40 might seem an
adequate substitute...
