It's actually a rather sophisticated electro-mechanical
serial datacom system.  Maybe a little too sophisticated
for something as simple as a jukebox.  What I might not
have said clearly is that when the first set of rotary
switches is being held in place, and the selection arm is
rotating, it gets it signal to stop when the two sets of
switches are lined up - they then pass current to each other.
The first set then is released and springs back to their
"zero" positions.  The set attached to the selection arm
just stay put, and begin rotating from that position for
the next selection - so it that way, it's a little like an
pre-Edison stock ticker, too.  :-)
