Monique, If most of your 45s are warped, it sound like
they have been exposed to too much sun or near a heat
source like a radiator. I could be wrong, but I dont
think there is a way to restore them. There is a
method for restoring warped 78s, but this wont work on
45s. In terms of valuations remember, for the serious
record collectors, condition is everything, including
label and sleeve. In the UK there is an excellent book
called the Record Collectors price guide. I am not
sure where you are located, but I would imagine it is
available from the likes of Amazon. There was an
interesting article in a UK jukebox magazine a while
back where someone had gone into a record store to buy
a rare 45. When he told the owner he intended to
remove the centre to play on a jukebox, the owner
refused to sell the record. On the grounds that
removing the centre would almost certainly reduce the
value of the record. To me a sale is a sale, but I can
understand the owners point of view. He said he would
rather sell the same record to the buyer but on a
repro label. In the UK, unlike the US 45s were either
manufactured with a solid centre or had a plastic
insert which had to be physically removed for playing
in jukeboxes. I think some jukeboxes had a special
adapter that allowed you to play both versions. I am
not sure if this was a standard issue item or had to
be added as an extra device.

Regards

Gary
