Thanks Jay and Ron for your quick and helpful responses.  In my case, the neg. leads from the transformer secondary attach to the twisted mounting terminals on the exterior of the cans.  One can has a single cap, the other can has three caps but they are all of equal value. I have located all the pos. leads that come out of the center part of the cans.  I will attach the neg leads of the new caps to these twisted terminals and attach a new terminal strip to sort out all the postive leads and resistors.  The other twisted mounting terminals with leads attached must be grounding terminals??
I assume these are OK to leave as is.
