Yep the detent switch is the one that ticks. Sounds like it needs some 
attention with the visible arcing after you get the pin situated. It 
probably could use a good cleaning and timing adjustment. Of the 6 mechs I 
have serviced all the detent switches needed attention. Seems like most get 
a oil film on them that causes them to burn.
