I've never used these records because they're usually only
available in sets and (to my personal taste, such as it 
is) you have to take a lot of chaffe with the wheat.  But
I've been told by several folks that these are in fact
microgroove records, and need a 1 mil stylus, FWIW.  I
can tell you that a 1 mil will make a 78 sound terrible
because the stylus tip is just bouncing around in the
bottom of the groove and not tracking the sidewalls like 
it should.  I'd suggest that if the 2-mil sounds OK with
these reproduction records, go for it.  That's a better
compromise than playing the originals with the 1 mil
stylus.

For all practical purposes, I'd regard size as the only
difference.  However, 78 styli usually have a truncated
conical section, and LP styli are elliptical.  What
the 2 mil would be I can't say.
