I've never used these records because they're usually only
available in sets and (to my personal taste, such as it
is) you have to take a lot of chaffe with the wheat. But
I've been told by several folks that these are in fact
microgroove records, and need a 1 mil stylus, FWIW. I
can tell you that a 1 mil will make a 78 sound terrible
because the stylus tip is just bouncing around in the
bottom of the groove and not tracking the sidewalls like
it should. I'd suggest that if the 2-mil sounds OK with
these reproduction records, go for it. That's a better
compromise than playing the originals with the 1 mil
stylus.

For all practical purposes, I'd regard size as the only
difference. However, 78 styli usually have a truncated
conical section, and LP styli are elliptical. What
the 2 mil would be I can't say.
