Don, the only reason I could think of was the material the gear was made
of was unstable as opposed to phenolic. This problem was more noticeable
with offset red head needles. When replacing the gear, I had also change
the worm. This problem caused only flutter, no wow. Wow is caused by an
unstable turntable speed. Flutter is caused by vibrations at specific
passages of the tune. Wes
