Common Rock-Ola problem.

You have a bad reset coil on the read-out arm.  (Probably the A side coil).  
It's the coil that resets the selection pin.

When they go bad, the resistance goes up and pops the breaker just as the 
tonearm is put down.
Mine was obvious once I know what to look for.  The white wrapping on the A 
side coil was browner than the B side one.

An easy fix.  Contact John Durfee.  I think he had some of these coils NOS.
