I don't suspect a lot of people expect true hi fi out of a jukebox. I don't.
I know none of my jukeboxes has the frequency response, low distortion and
dynamic range as my turntable on my home stereo system has.But they do sound
good.I'm a vinyl fanatic and somewhat of an audiophile in that respect.CDs sound
good but I am am definitely in the vinyl camp. The vinyl has to be in excellent
condition to not get hiss and pops on my home turntable though. Something
which few used 45s are and even new ones aren't made or were ever made to the same
quality level that LPs were. And the home turntable being completely manual
and single play would be a pain to change 45s every few minutes. It is strictly
for LPs and I am one who has a custom cartridge that costs a lot of money, and
cleans records before playing on it.The needle on it costs more than a pair
of Seeburb twin Ts these days. The sound is superb but it's more fun to play
the jukebox and more convenient most times. When I want to sit and listen I play
LPs on my system but I can play the jukebox any time.I don't get picky about
the pops and scratches. It's expected from old 45s.Records that would be
unlistenable on my turntable due to all the clicks, pops and hiss sound great in the
jukebox.Even records that have sibilince don''t have it in the jukebox. It's
kinda sad that the younger generation doesn't appreciate jukeboxes and the
market has gotten soft for jukeboxes. They like things small, portable and convenient
these days and of course the ipod holds more songs than any disk
playing(record or cd)ever could.
