Kyle,
  Are you saying that the original gold/brown panel was "horrible", or, are you saying the one you had was destroyed ? I liked the original one much better, then any "replacement", on an LPC cabinet--
  Anyway, the three metal pannels do reflect the light, but their main purpose in life is to allow the keyboard to be removed without having all the plastic buttons fall out. Ron Rich
