Jackie, the pin is supposed to stop the carousel, and the little bit of 
overtravel is supposed to trip a switch to stop the power to the carousel, 
and activate the record changing mechanism, so your switch is either out of 
adjustment, or bad.

It should be easy to spot.  It'll be a switch that rides around on the 
carousel somewhere.

It's not tripping, thus turning off (or reversing, not sure exactly how that 
mech is set up)  the carousel motor. That's why it continues to try to turn 
and bend the pin.

If it's a bad switch (rare) I have a bunch of misc switches. Maybe the right 
one.
