OK, I did find them a bit cheaper on ebay, about $180 including shipping.
Stylus is permenant, but can be changed by Denon.
I'll assume that this cartridge is basicly hand built from what I've read,
but at 3 gram tracking, the stylus should last a good long time. I have my
G easily tracking well at 4 grams now with the original GE, so this is
probably not an issue.
No kidding, I just lubed an F last night that had an old Shure cartridge in
it (M2, I think) and it was tracking at under 2 grams. No kidding. This is a
spectacular stat' for an old jukebox, but the toneam mass, geometry and both
vertical and lateral pivots are well designed on these AMIs.
I thnk for a spectacular F or G, it would be worth the investment.
Just on a side note, the F (firecracker red) I lubed up yesterday had always
been privately owned, was spectacular, and had a little box inside with all
of the original removeable packing blocks and materials. I almost wept.
