The original material of the upper dome plastics was translucent red, they
were not painted. Those plastics are always faded to white, even if they
were not exposed to direct sunlight the UV light from the flourescents will
kill them.
To achieve the original look one would then have to paint them with a
perfectly even coat of translucent paint. I doubt that can be done....but
haven't they been reproduced yet? Hildegard?? :o)
