No, he used a machine screw.  A sex screw set, or sex bolt, is a
matching machine screw and countersunk nut that are flush on both
sides of the application, like the screw and nut sets that hold
tape reels together.  Provides a more finished look.  I just
need to go down to our local Northwest threaded fastener purveyor,
Tacoma Screw Products, and get one.
