First, you need the manual and the supplement - or the 1500A manual, which
includes the supplement (having to come out with a service supplement in mid
year production only ever happened with the W1500 AFAIK - a unique event,
showing the severity of the problems they had).
Then you need to spend hours watching the mechanism to figure out how it
works.
You don't want to do this in someones basement, even if you were an expert
on this mech. ;o)
The back motion of the selection motor was the most important change they
had to make. They needed the motor to take up the slack in the chain.
The adjustments are veeerrrrrrry tight - so all cams and cam followers need
to be in good shape and tight. The Wurlitzer op in San Antonio would re-pin
all cams and use loctite! He had around 120 of these beasts in operation for
decades. Never no problem, he claimed - unless you moved the machine, then
you needed to readjust it.
It IS a mechanical marvel.
