Yeah, I can see that.  My only ceramic cartridge machine is my
AMI A.  I don't have any ceramic 45 machines.  Conical
styli are definitely harder on the high frequencies than
elliptical.

If you have a decent turntable and tonearm, I'm sure you
can get decent life from them.  The place where their
brittleness really comes to the fore is in heavy-play
situations with equipment built for durability over
gentleness - jukeboxes and broadcast.  Those poly records
cue-burn like nobody's business.
