Hi Jay,
Your page on updates for the junction box is good, but you should
also mention to folks that if they replace the selenium rectifier
with a silicon version that they need to add two more fuses - one on
each AC input to the bridge. Otherwise if the bridge rectifier ever
shorts out a diode that will probably destroy the transformer before
the 2.5A fuse will blow. Could be a fire hazard as a result - so we
always add a pair of diodes when converting to silicon.
Your ground information is good and yet often overlooked by folks
doing their (or other folks) machines - its what we've been doing
since the 80s on any restoration job.
