The 45 and 33 conversion kits change the gear ratio right
off the motor, so thye make all parts of the mechanism run
slower. This machine had been modified to play LP albums
when I got it, so the conversion back to 78 basically just
a gear change. I was surprised at how fast it ran, too.
But it's really very gentle on records. In the 30 years
I've owned it it's never damaged a record.

The sound is very good, although there's some high frequency
distortion on records from the mid-late 1950s. The amp is
probably about ready for a rebuild. It's all original. The
cabinet is also original. It has a few "battle scars" but
my philosophy with most things mechanical is to conserve if
possible and restore if necessary.
