Mine plays slow, too, the first couple sides, but not that
slow.  I usually "warm it up" with a couple selections with
the volume down before I play it "for real."  I've never gotten
a definitive answer if this is normal behavior (after all,
it was assumed these machines would be playing all day and
well into the night) or if my motor needs some kind of
disassembly and serious bearing cleaning.
