Ron's right on that, of course.  

My other post, with info and questions of whether you *could* make it
work, is completely separate from the question of if you *should* do
it.  

I was more thinking along the lines of, "In the future, if I'm looking
at a center tapped power supply, and all I have in my parts bin is a
full-wave rectifier..."
