Here's the basics on the scanning twice issue.
Whenever a selection is made on a Seeburg, the machine sets the mechanism up
to scan back and forth twice in order to search for selections.
The selections are held electrically, not mechanically, so...
You need to discover if :
A. The selections are being 'written in' (registered).
Or
B. Aren't being 'read out' or read by the scanning mechanism.
In the case of the older Seeburgs, the first suspect is a bad pulse
amplifier. It's a box with a vacuum tube on the TSU unit, the big control
center next to the amplifier.
At this point, probably the entire TSU and amplifier should be rebuilt.
They are now well over 45 years old and the capacitors are probably shot.
Hope this helps explain what's going on. It's not so much that the mech
won't transfer. It needs to actually find a selection first to do that.
