The main thing driving up the price of oil, and therefore
gasoline, is the burgeoning economies of China and India - 
the same thing that's driving the price of other raw
materials like copper to new highs.  Once those people 
start making more than a subsistance wage, they start
looking at motor vehicles, and there are a *lot* of
potential car drivers in those two countries.
