[Jukebox-list] AMI Mech - A bit too clean?

Now that would look cool - a polished mech board. The only thing to watch out for is that oftentimes those aluminum mech boards have sharp edges or other nasty imperfections that stick out from the top. Not sure if those "boards" were stamped from a sheet of aluminum, but anything sharp is going to grab and tear any cloth or polishing/buffing materials that you use. I actually had what appeared to be a small spike sticking out from a mech board, and it tore the towel I was using to dry the thing right out of my hand. The other thing is that the aluminum pieces in those AMIs tarnish fairly quick especially if they're exposed to humidity. I wonder if once you got it polished to a chrome-like finish, if you could hit it with a clear laquer to seal it off....almost like what's done with polished brass.
