Kyle - We did have fun and it was nice to hear from you, at least until we
"lost" you in that tunnel!
The tracking on the 1 mil Cobra was off my gauge, the manual recommended 10
to 14. Ouch. So I did reduce it to 10 grams. I know that still seems
heavy, but if I set it lower, it might have trouble rejecting and skipping.
It does sound pretty good, but I don't think the Cobra is as forgiving on
worn records as say a lightweight magnetic pickup.
The latch solenoid problem turned out to be a matter of adjusting the leaf
switch that shorts out the 68 ohm resistor - it was making contact in its
normally-closed position, and was not shorting the resistor. Thus the
resistor was always in series with the latch coil and there wasn't enough
oomph to pull it in. I also saw some contacts on the letter switch that
weren't being actuated - the box still selected, so I guess maybe it was
part of an anti-cheat circuit? I adjusted those.
I wanted to study the wiring diagram, but at this point the ladies took away
my screwdriver and were trying to get me drunk.
Cheers!
