Bill, keep it simple. If the tape increased your speed to the correct
speed, that tells you that the ratio is slightly off between either the
motor end piece which engages to the idler wheel, or the idler wheel is
slightly too small. Verify it is the correct size. Check the turntable
rubber grommets that someone else mentioned.  Lube the motor good.  The
best tape to use inside the rim of the turntable is friction tape {cloth
backed tape}  This is not the ultimate correct fix to the problem, but
in a pinch, I have used this method on some jukes for a long time with
no ill effects. If the motor is going bad, its going to go bad anyway.
