[Jukebox-list] Rockola Tempo2 Speed

Bill,
Once again, on the spring--it WAS designed to put just the correct amount of pressure on the wheel against the shaft. There are many factors that combine in correctly designing that (and all) spring "set-ups". In this case, too much pressure will wear out the top motor bearing, because the idler rubber is being "pinched" against the motor shaft. I have replaced more than enough turntable motors only because the top bearing has worn out on the side opposite the spring, that had been "made stronger".
You might just check the motor shaft--it should be tight in the bearing when "pushed" "left-right". Ron Rich

  Ray and Jim,
Thanks for your input. I have a perfect 45rpm turntable now with the tape on
the inside of the rim. I verified that the replacement idler wheel is same
size as old one, so it may be the spring. Grommets look good and it's well
oiled now. I'm almost tempted to just leave it alone. You know what I mean?
But will probably scub the idler wheel rubber with the isopropyl and work on
the spring. Thanks to all who helped. Hopefully I can contribute someday.
