Sorry Jim, but Bob is right. The motor speed, motor shaft diameter, and 
turntable inner diameter are the only things that will affect the speed (not 
counting idler slipping, etc). What I read early on in the thread is that 
the speed was OK until it played for about 30 minutes. I would suspect 
something is up with the motor itself as it heats up. Lack of lubrication 
and worn bearings have already been mentioned. Give up on the tape idea - I 
just don't see that lasting very long.
