Ed,
  Look at the "Record now playing" indicator. If you remember, the LPC-1 had a "RECORD now playing" indicator/lamp cover, that sat at an angle (about 45 degs.) on the mechanism, while the LPC-480 had a "SELECTION now playing" indicator that sat flat on the mechanism. That is the only cosmetic difference in those two mechs. The one pictured has a metal "pointer" "pointing" to a number attached to the pop meter. This was done only on the hideaways. Ron Rich
