David, and All,
What were the Rolling Stones, yellow background, red tongue, records made of ? When they were "in the top 40", I had to replace them over and over---seemed like every two weeks.

Holy Cats! 39 bucks! I guess I should pull the one out of
the AMI and sell it! :-) I'm not conversant with the grading
scale that includes "VG". In my experience, most people who
put out record auction lists use a variant of this scale
(from Kurt Nauck):
M- or N- Just shy of Mint or New. (Nothing's *perfect* -
usually only applied to new old stock.)
E+ A choice copy with no wear whatsoever.
E Excellent. Virtually no trace of groove wear with
only minimal traces of use and handling.
E- An above average record with a slight degree of
groove wear, but not enough to seriously detract
from its audio quality.
V+ Obviously well played, but still enjoyable.
Noticable graying in the grooves.
V Very well worn, but listenable. Expect surface
noise to be significant. There may be some
stressed grooves.
V- Wiped out. Played with the right equipment,
however, you may still derive a certain degree
of pleasure from a record in this condition.
P Possibly unplayable (Mostly good for proving
physical existence of the record.)
My experience is that E- records sound almost as good as
new in jukeboxes, and V+ comes close.
