Greetings all, again thanks for the hints, will do.
 BTW many tube testers will check a 2050, this is a grid controlled recrifier used in industry many years ago.
  When it says the tube will strike at 27 that means no current will show on the meter until the bias control is turned down (you start at 100) to 27. This is not a critical setting and can vary. The tube normally employs a plate relay in the anode circuit of approx. 2000 to 5000 ohms.
Larger tubes of this category are tubes like the C6J these are referred to as thyratrons, smaller 7 pin versions such as the 1D21 are also available and serve the same function.

The 6EU7's I asked about are at the bottom of the audio amplifier.
