Good job Ray on getting the 490s going.
My Finds have been from many sources. 2 from ebay, 2 from the neighbor, 1 in
exchange for a repairing another juke, 1 from a antique store (my first
juke), 1 from the local trading paper.
My biggest find was 10 "parts jukes" from a local operator. I had been
bugging him for a few months to get a look in his warehouse. I came by one
day and he said "I got a deal for you, all or nothing". The deal was for 10
parts jukes and a old pinball machine for $900. It seems like a high price
for parts jukes but I really got some great experience working on Rowe R-89
and Rockola 45 rpm machines out of the deal. With Ebay and mixing and
maching parts I made my money back. Plus I got to give a couple of jukes as
gifts to friends and family. I was a bit overwhelmed after I got them but it
was well worth it.
The experience I got from all those jukes really helped out when I made the
plunge and purchased two NSM Satellite 200 jukes (non working). With my
improved skill I was able to get one juke working before I even got
schematics or manuals for these foreign machines.
Seeburg remains "my" brand of choice though.
